Five Card Stud Rules

Five card stud is not a popular poker game, but it can still be found in some casinos and in online poker rooms.

Five card stud rules are much like seven card stud rules, a variation of poker that is more popular. The game begins with all players placing their antes. After this, two cards are dealt to each player – one face down (their hole card) and one face up (their door card).

Whoever has the lowest door card opens the betting, followed by the player to their left and so on. Players must either call, raise or fold. After the first betting round, every following betting round is begun by the player with the highest poker hand showing (with their door cards).

After the first round of betting, players are dealt another door card, followed by another round of betting. This is repeated through three more door cards or until only one player remains in the game.

The game concludes when all remaining players have five cards in their hand: one face down and four face up. After the last round of betting players take part in the showdown, where the player with the highest ranking hand wins.
